It was a great first edition of Girls Rock LA! Presented by The Living Sessions in partnership with Sunset Eclectico. This magical night took place this past March 31, 2016 at Los Globos of Silverlake, California. The lineup was comprised of powerful, inspiring, beautiful, and talented mujeres, chicas, girls, muxeres, womyn, guerreras that shared their unique talent through their own expressions of art.
There were powerful yet sweet displays of talent throughout the night; we had acoustic performances by Darlene & Jasmine, Viri y Los Bandidos, Lupita Ye “La Refalosa”, Luna Mondragon, and Tyna Ros. We also had the opportunity to experience live poetry sessions by Iris de Anda of 100 Segundos de Soledad, Darlene Perez of Darlene & Jasmine, and Fanny De Mode of Loose Thoughts who was also our DJ for this special night. And to make this night an even more colorful one we had live art in the form of body/belly paint by airbrush makeup artist Livier Lopez of The HMUA Studio in Paramount California who along with our beautiful model and soon mother to be Jossy Giron made this night even more special.
Darlene & Jasmine a musical sister duo opened the stage of this intimate night and shared with us an acoustic version of their new single “Huracan” which you can now find in itunes and other online platforms.
Then came Lupita Ye also known as “La Refalosa” who was accompanied by her great companeros, talented musicians that joined her in her canto de raiz, she also presented her new single titled “El Otro Poder” a cumbia electrosonica.
It was the turn of San Diego indie folk/pop/rock bilingual band Viri y Los Bandidos that prepared an acoustic set for this night and presented special versions of songs from their latest album “Vamos A Ser Amigos” creating a new fan base among the audience.
From Tijuana Mexico we welcomed singer-songwriter Luna Mondragon, she presented her soon to be released single “Enamorada” to our Girls Rock LA audience and called the performers to join her, suddenly we were all on stage singing in unison “What’s Up” by “4 Non Blondes” it was definitely a unique moment.
And if this wasn’t enough to close the night we were joined by Mexican singer-songwriter Tyna Ros who presented songs from her new album “Lobo Gris”.
It was definitely a memorable first edition of Girls Rock LA! And we are already planning the next edition that intends to promote and support female artists as well as empower and unite our community. We hope you can join us on the next Girls Rock LA!
